Design for Life Hackathon

‘Design for Life Hackathon’ mixes the most progressive architectural and design practices in the world to address and solve complex environmental challenges. The teams will engage with Dassault Systèmes’ R&D specialists in creating solution-driven designs, which will be presented to a panel of judges consisting of top designers and Dassault Systèmes executives - who will then choose a winner.

Can you imagine a world where data is used as a key source for design? This futuristic vision underpins Dassault Systèmes’ Hackathon Challenge - entitled DATAVIRONMENT - that will form part of their Design in the Age of Experience presentation during the Milan Design Week from April 8th-14th at Superstudio Più. More than 90% of the world’s data has been generated in the last two years. This trend will continue as data from mobile computing, artificial intelligence and augmented reality create artificial cityscapes that will become part of the urban fabric. The merging of virtual and physical worlds presents new opportunities for designers to address societal and sustainability challenges. How will they embrace and utilize data-driven landscapes to create product and architectural experiences that will uplift the lives of citizens? The DATAVIRONMENT Hackathon Challenge will present five teams with a hands-on opportunity to design the future data-centric city using Dassault Systèmes’ iconic design solutions CATIA and SOLIDWORKS. The teams will create their own vision for DATAVIRONMENT, and they will be judged on their overall storytelling and the virtual reality experience of their project. To make the challenge more realistic, participants will use a 3DEXPERIENCity model of Milan, to appropriate their ideas into a real-life context. The teams will be made up one Dassault Systèmes’ R&D expert and four 3DEXPERIENCE Champions. Visitors are welcome to join the experience during the final day of presentations and the winner announcements on Friday morning
